Family, friends, events I'm thankful for, ways I can make a difference, how I can be a better person...

There are certain videos that have struck a chord with me during this meditative state I'm in right now. Granted, these are only a few of the many, and I urge all of you to do your own search on videoblogs you can save for "meditative" reference.

An Iraqi Woman talks about Fallujah
Rana Alouiby, director of International Peace Angels, talks about her experiences on the ground in Fallujah during and after the second siege in November of 2004"

Berlin Holocaust Memorial
"It's hard to describe the feeling as you walk though the seemingly endless lines of stones..."

The Masses
The collective, crowd, group, herd, army, drove, mob... the masses.

7 Days
The individual, the human being. Starfire's brother talks about his seven day deployment to New Orleans.

Come Union 69
Simply riveting how a simple conversation can turn into a work of art. Communion with a friend, communion with yourself. This is the video I'll meditate on this Thanksgiving season.

*Note: Comments are gold. When you visit one of the vlogs and like the video you see, just drop a comment, it's always appreciated in the vlogosphere. :)

Permalink | Email this | Comments

Videoblog Mixtape #3

Mixtape numero tres. What do a record player, predictions, pharmacies, a belt, and the start of something new have in common? Can you get into my head? Here ya go. And remember - start a videoblog!

Record Player
12 year old Dylan seems like the coolest girl in the world. Here she gets a record player for Christmas, shows us how to use it, and plays some classic beats from some old punk records she finds in her garage.

A Videoblog circa 2006
Jay Dedman predicts (and demonstrates) how videoblogging will get co-opted by advertisers. Thing is, Jay has a good track record with his predictions... Hilariously on point.

St. Clair Shores
Chris Weagel (aka Human Dog) seems not to give a crap what you think, and that makes you want to be his friend. Isn't that what they call dysfunctional? Here he gives you a tour of his home town.

The Belt
The sound in Charlene's videos run up my spine in the best way. They are wonderfully eerie and layered. In this video, a simple belt seems like it is meant to be something much more.

I'm Gonna Start a Video Journal
If you don't know about Ian you should. He's been running a videoblog project where he posts one vlog a day for the whole year of 2005. This is his intro video. In this one we take a look at the meaning of the vlog, the violent life of ants, a journey to the South Bronx, and the life of a young man. Enjoy. And make a videoblog!

Vlog Anarchy
A classic in the Vlogosphere. Welcome to the spankin' new weekly videoblog mixtape (remember when we used to make those?) coming at you every Friday. Anyway, mixtapes were made for lovers, and I love videoblogs - so I figured why not share the love a lil' bit? So get your cup of coffee, sit back, and enjoy as I take you on a smooth ride through the vlogosphere. Oh, and if you would be so kind to let us know if you enjoyed your mixtape or how we can make it better in the form of a comment, that would be wonderful. Thanks!

She Can't Open It!
Millie Garfield is 80 years young and one of the internet's oldest (and cutest) bloggers. In this one she asks her son Steve to open several things for her, because companies don't take seniors into consideration when they design their product packaging.

Save the Derby Blog
A citizen journalist vlog by Josh Finn dedicated to saving one of the
last remaining landmarks in Los Angeles, California: The historic Derby Building in Hollywood. They want to tear it down, he's there to capture
those who want to leave it up. There's also a petition to sign.

Cat Turns Off Light Switch
If you love cats, then this is the vlog for you. Josh Leo shows us his cat turning off a light switch! Wonder how he trained him? Watch. Also, if you have a link to a cat video, send it in, it's an ongoing cat project.

Welcome to the Future*
One of my favorites. In this video Chuck Olsen addresses some of the issues going on with copyright laws and infringement. Basically Chuck went to a concert, Chuck filmed part of the concert, Chuck got thrown out of the concert - while everyone else stayed recording on their camera phones. Yep.

Sarah Gives You a Tour of Her House
Sarah Weagel is damn funny. I'm not sure if it's the editing or her, or both, but the comedic timing is brilliant. In this vlog post she gives you a tour of her home.

Permalink | Email this | Comments
