If you've been keeping up with the DIY film scene, you're probably already familiar with Susan Buice and Arin Crumley's Four Eyed Monsters. Nevertheless, New Yorkers will have a new opportunity to check out the film at Cinema Village, where it will be playing for one week. Four Eyed Monsters is a low-budget filmmaking experiment that has been creatively and intelligently promoted through various means on the internet, and it's very impressive to see that the film is still getting new screenings across the country. Worth checking out if you're in the area.(via DIY Filmmaker)

1. Don't get me wrong, the promotion of the film is creative and intelligent, in fact, I'm jealous as hell at how they've gotten the word out... but the real reason the film is getting so much attention is that it's DAMN good.
I saw it in Boston this September and was inspired and liberated by how they didn't try to make video look like film, but instead they used and abused video to create a visually stunning movie that blends painting, drawing, music, animation etc.
We all say, imagine what we can do with creativity and access to equipment and software. They accomplished something extraordinary: A good story told well.
