I was a
little surprised this morning to read the news that Apple had released a software, Boot Camp, that allows Intel Mac
users to dual boot Windows XP and newer versions of Windows. Almost seemed like a belated April's fool joke. But it is
all true. It is still in Beta so I won't trust this with important work for at least another update. I am not excited
to run Windows on my machines but it is wonderful that I have the ability to run a Windows-only 3D program or even
editing softwares like Sony Vegas. Problems like the P2 card reader application that works fine on Windows but
not on Macs are no longer an issue. This is incredible news.Boot Camp - The free software that creates dual booting capability. Note: You are also going to need a copy of Windows XP.
Apple Support papers on Boot Camp - A must read. There is a lot of small little warnings to heed. If you run Windows, all the PC viruses can affect the entire computer so be careful. Also this: When installing "do not create or delete any partitions, or select any partition other than partition C:. Doing so may delete the contents of your Mac OS X startup volume."
