If you find yourself shooting in a studio more often than running-and-gunning, you'll want to use a remote zoom
rocker mounted on your tripod handle. A zoom rocker only gets you so far, though--you'll still have to contort
yourself to adjust your focus or exposure.16X9 Inc. comes to the rescue with the Foxi iris/focus controller, which is compatible with Panasonic's HVX-200 and DVX-100B. Built by BeBob engineering, the Foxi controls your H/DVX's iris with a "sliding paddle indicator," and your camera's focus via a large, fluid knob that mimics traditional follow-focus systems. Foxi lists for $525 but is being introduced at $465.
Note that this is not a true manual follow-focus; it electronically controls focus via your camera's servo. I'd hazard a guess that this makes the Foxi better suited for traditional TV studio work than narrative focus-pulling; intial impressions on DVXUser seem to back this up. Still, a nice looking device, especially when you consider that true manual follow-focus systems can run you upwards of $1500 (although I'd be remiss if I didn't point out Redrock Micro's upcoming microFollowFocus, which will start "well below $500").
