1. Rather then posting as much and as fast as you can, how about reading the link site and getting the facts correct. It's not The Apple Store, it's dealmac.com, and while you got the link from HD for Indies he points you to the original source and, oh yeah, the deals no longer available.

2. Actually, Ole, it was at the Apple Store site last night. I got it from there myself in the wee hours (with tax and 2-day shipping, 2,186.52). The strange thing is, it's now silently absent in the Apple Store "Digital Cameras & Video" category as of this writing.

That also got me wondering aloud about the possibility of a surprise FX2 at NAB, but that's just me - and you can't consider me a reliable source!

However, just getting the facts sorted out for you - and rather than jumping down the throat of DVGuru, I'm sure someof us can cultivate a rare skill on the internet known as "constructive criticism" :)

4. I know for a fact that it was listed as "In Stock, Ships within 24hrs" at the Apple Store this morning, and by mid afternoon it said "Unavailable".

Tonight I'm reading one forum where members purchased like a pack of rabid piranhas, and it seems that FX1 orders are being canceled by Apple right and left. They either grossly oversold supplies, or something else fishy is going on. One poster said a phone rep claimed they don't sell that camera, and never had.

We'll find out soon enough. If they actually do ship some of the cams, then a FX2 announcement at NAB seems all but guaranteed...

5. As much as I pride myself on doing the research, we'll have to chalk this one up to purely dumb luck.

I was cruising the Apple Store's site around 11:00 p.m. PST - always, out of curiosity, peeking to check if there were any deals on accessories or refurbs. There it was. I didn't even waste time on calling them. If it was a mistake on the site, they'd have to sort it out with me in the morning. Got the order confirmation in a few minutes that night, and shipping confirmation this afternoon. It was real.

By the time I went to announce the find last night, the world already knew... and shipping by morning went over six weeks for some customers. In a matter of a few hours, they were gone - faster than U2 tickets.

I subscribe more to the theory that Sony is probably moving product and stealing thunder from competitors in anticipation of other surprises at NAB (Red, anyone?). Even if an FX2 is in the works, this was still, as Kerr Cook blithely coined in another forum "the deal of the century".

If I can offer any morsel of wisdom, it's "stay up late, but look in the good neighborhoods"!

7. So far so good. After reading the horror stories of those "on the line", who've had orders confirmed but not shipped - then later cancelled, I feel truly fortunate to have a FedEx tracking number.

Whatever it is, it left Rancho Cordova and is sitting in Seattle. I know some are wishing it's a bag of dirt, and I don't blame them.
