Indieflix: Direct To The Web

indieflix.jpgNew York times has an article about IndieFlix which is founded by Ms. Andreen and her business partner, filmmaker Gian-Carlo Scandiuzzi. Directors submit their films, which are then posted on the Web site. When users log on and click to buy the films that capture their interest, IndieFlix burns them onto a DVD and ships them out. The price for a feature-length film is $9.95. So it is not direct to web where you get to watch something online but it is more of a distributing model that revolves around the web. Interesting idea, something that I always thought would be successful idea but not like this. There is so many films out there, an audience needs tastemakers not a video search engine, however, I do like the idea of burning to DVD. By the way, the good-looking website is slow, maybe it is due because of the article. Also, I did not see any previews of any of the films which is a bad idea. Oh, how I wish, I had some start-up cash to do an online video distribution correctly.
