Recently, I have been focused on good audio as I have had to record voice-over for a film that I am working on. This is a very bare but informative review of portable audio recorders. (A quick note to bloggers: please do not use black backgrounds because it is hard-as-hell to read.) The recorders vary from basic and cheap to professional and expensive. The Zoom PS-04 looked good and was in the right price range but it only records on Mp3 (??!). The two stand-outs are the Edirol R-1 and the M-audio Microtrack, both are priced around $400, both use Compact Flash cards and have some useful professional tools. I think the M-audio Microtrack seems to be the better choice between the two. I like the fact you can recharge it using a USB connection. Portable audio recorders review
