Think podcasting for video. The interesting part of all this is that one of the applications rolled out with DTV is Broadcast Machine. This application can serve up your own video files via torrents, create a browse-able archive of old and new content and allow you to advertise. Sounds like cable but for online use? Well that is what it is intended for. This is fantastic! Here is why -- you could put up the video up as a torrent file so it will be easy on your bandwidth, it is open-source so it is free (and hopefully remains so), and you get to have a channel!!
